Our entire [Windows] was OEM business in this quarter flat, more in line with the PC market and better than we had expected,” said Amy Hood, chief financial officer of Microsoft during a call with Wall Street analysts on Thursday. Most of Microsoft’s revenue from Windows comes from license sale, equipment manufacturers, OEMs called for “Original Equipment Manufacturers.”

Market research firms IDC and Gartner have continued contraction forecast no extension in the PC business. Only when companies kick migrations to Windows 10 gang analysts see a reversal of the historic collapse of the industry. It cannot be expected to happen until next year.

Jack Gold, principal analyst at j. Gold Associates, agreed, citing his company its latest results, if the chip maker, that companies were only just starting to said claims data on enterprise adoption of Windows 10 and comment from Intel to alter PCs.

“The PC space is still stagnant but not as bad as some had predicted it,” gold said. “Migrating to Windows 10 in the next six to 12 months, that update more PC companies will mean more companies [As], as most companies will buy new machines instead of just the operating system upgrade.”
